Sacrifice and Hair/Nail Care

SUMMARY: It is important to not take anything from your hair or nails when wanting to offer a sacrifice.

It was narrated from Umm Salamah that the Messenger of Allah said: "Whoever among you sees the new crescent of Dhul-Hijjah and wants to offer a sacrifice, let him not take anything from his hair or nails".

QUICK LESSONS:

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of taking care of one's hair and nails when wanting to offer a sacrifice. The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said that if someone wants to offer a sacrifice during the month of Dhul-Hijjah, they should not take anything from their hair or nails. This means that they should not cut their hair or trim their nails in order to make the offering more perfect. Instead, they should leave it as it is and make sure that nothing has been taken away from them before making the offering. This teaches us an important lesson about taking care of our bodies and respecting them even when we are trying to do something good for Allah. We must remember that our bodies are gifts from Allah and we must treat them with respect at all times.
