The Importance of Hastening to Perform Hajj

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) advised people to perform Hajj as soon as possible, for unexpected events may prevent them from doing so.

It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas that Fadl said – or vice verse: "The Messenger of Allah said: 'Whoever intends to perform Hajj, let him hasten to do so, for he may fall sick, lose his mount, or be faced with some need.’"
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، وَعَمْرُو بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ أَبُو إِسْرَائِيلَ، عَنْ فُضَيْلِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، عَنِ الْفَضْلِ، - أَوْ أَحَدِهِمَا عَنِ الآخَرِ، - قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ "‏ مَنْ أَرَادَ الْحَجَّ فَلْيَتَعَجَّلْ فَإِنَّهُ قَدْ يَمْرَضُ الْمَرِيضُ وَتَضِلُّ الضَّالَّةُ وَتَعْرِضُ الْحَاجَةُ

EXPLANATIONS:
In this hadith, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is advising us to perform Hajj as soon as possible. He warns us that unexpected events such as sickness, losing a mount, or having some other need may prevent us from performing it. This hadith teaches us the importance of hastening in fulfilling our religious obligations and not procrastinating them until later on. We should also be prepared for any eventuality and make sure we are ready for whatever life throws at us.
