Sunan Ibn Majah 2882 (Book 25, Hadith 1) #32236
The Difficulty of Traveling

SUMMARY: Traveling can be difficult and tiring, so when one has fulfilled the purpose of their travel, they should return home quickly.

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah said: "Traveling is a kind of torment, it keeps anyone of you from his sleep, food and drink. When anyone of you has fulfilled the purpose for which he traveled, let him hasten to return to his family". Another chain reports a similar hadith.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the difficulty of traveling. It was narrated by Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah said that traveling is a kind of torment because it keeps anyone from their sleep, food and drink. This means that when someone travels, they may not get enough rest or have access to food and drink as they would at home. Therefore, once someone has fulfilled the purpose for which he traveled, he should hurry back to his family. This hadith teaches us to be mindful of our time away from home and to make sure we are taking care of ourselves while we are away. It also reminds us how important it is to spend time with our families and loved ones whenever possible.
