Women's Pledge to the Prophet

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) accepted the pledge of women to follow his teachings, but did not shake hands with them.

Muhammad bin Munkadir said that he heard Umaimah bint Ruqaiqah say: "I came to the Prophet with some other women, to offer our pledge to him. He said to us: '(I accept your pledge) with regard to what you are able to do. But I do not shake hands with women.’"
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ الْمُنْكَدِرِ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أُمَيْمَةَ بِنْتَ رُقَيْقَةَ، تَقُولُ جِئْتُ النَّبِيَّ فِي نِسْوَةٍ نُبَايِعُهُ فَقَالَ لَنَا ‏ "‏ فِيمَا اسْتَطَعْتُنَّ وَأَطَقْتُنَّ إِنِّي لاَ أُصَافِحُ النِّسَاءَ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about a group of women who came to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and offered their pledge to him. He accepted their pledge, but did not shake hands with them as a sign of respect for their modesty and privacy. This hadith teaches us that we should always respect other people’s boundaries and be mindful of our actions when interacting with others. It also shows us that we should strive to follow the teachings of the Prophet in order to gain Allah’s blessings in this life and hereafter.
