Sunan Ibn Majah 2590 (Book 20, Hadith 58) #31944
Property Belongs to Allah

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ did not punish a slave for stealing from the Khumus, instead he taught that all property belongs to Allah (SWT).

It was narrated from Ibn Abbas that : one of the slaves of Khumus stole something from the Khumus, and the matter was referred to the Prophet but he did not cut off his hand, and he said ' The Property of Allah, (SWT) part of it stealing another part'. "

QUICK LESSONS:
Respect property, Be grateful towards God, Do not steal

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about a slave who stole something from the Khumus. Instead of punishing him, the Prophet taught that all property belongs to Allah. He was teaching us that we should not steal and that everything we have is given by God. We should be thankful for what we have and use it wisely. We should also remember that no matter how much money or possessions we have, they are still owned by God and will eventually return to Him.
