Sharing Resources Among Muslims

SUMMARY: Muslims are not allowed to charge for water, pasture and fire.

It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas that the Messenger of Allah said: "The Muslims are partners in three things: water, pasture and fire, and their price is unlawful".
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ خِرَاشِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ الشَّيْبَانِيُّ، عَنِ الْعَوَّامِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ "‏ الْمُسْلِمُونَ شُرَكَاءُ فِي ثَلاَثٍ فِي الْمَاءِ وَالْكَلإِ وَالنَّارِ وَثَمَنُهُ حَرَامٌ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو سَعِيدٍ يَعْنِي الْمَاءَ الْجَارِيَ

This hadith teaches us that Muslims should share resources such as water, pasture and fire with each other without charging a price for it.
