Prohibiting Land Leasing

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) forbade leasing out land.

It was narrated from Abu Sufyan, the freed slave of Ibn Abu Ahmad, that he told him that he heard Abu Sa'eed Al-Khudri say: "The Messenger of Allah forbade Muhaqlah". (Sahih)Muhaqlah means leasing out land
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، حَدَّثَنَا مُطَرِّفُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ، عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ الْحُصَيْنِ، عَنْ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ، - مَوْلَى ابْنِ أَبِي أَحْمَدَ - أَنَّهُ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُ، سَمِعَ أَبَا سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيَّ، يَقُولُ نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ عَنِ الْمُحَاقَلَةِ ‏.‏ وَالْمُحَاقَلَةُ اسْتِكْرَاءُ الأَرْضِ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the prohibition of leasing out land by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. It was narrated from Abu Sufyan that he heard Abu Sa'eed Al-Khudri say that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade Muhaqlah which means leasing out land. This hadith teaches us to be mindful and careful when it comes to dealing with our property and possessions as we should not lease them out without proper consideration and thought. We should also remember that whatever we do in this life will be judged by Allah SWT on the Day of Judgement so it is important for us to make sure our actions are in accordance with His teachings and commands.
