Forgiveness of Debts

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ advised a man to forgive the debt of another man.

Hirmas bin Habib narrated from his father that his grandfather said: "I came to the Prophet with a man who owed me money, and he said to me: 'Keep him'. Then he passed by me at the end of the day and said: 'What did your prisoner do, O brother of Banu Tamim?' "

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of forgiveness and mercy in Islam. It tells us that when someone owes us money, we should be merciful and forgive them if possible. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was an example for us in this regard as he advised a man to keep his prisoner instead of demanding payment from him. This teaches us that we should always try to be forgiving and merciful towards others even if they owe us something or have wronged us in some way. We should also remember that Allah is Most Merciful and He will reward those who show mercy towards others.
