Selling Animals Hand to Hand

SUMMARY: Selling animals for two, hand to hand is permissible but selling them on credit is disliked.

It was narrated from Jabir that the Messenger of Allah said: "There is nothing wrong with selling animals, one for two, hand to hand," but he disliked selling them on credit.
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ غِيَاثٍ، وَأَبُو خَالِدٍ عَنْ حَجَّاجٍ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ـ ـ قَالَ ‏ "‏ لاَ بَأْسَ الْحَيَوَانُ بِالْحَيَوَانِ وَاحِدًا بِاثْنَيْنِ يَدًا بِيَدٍ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ وَكَرِهَهُ نَسِيئَةً

Be honest in your dealings with others; Do not take advantage of people who are vulnerable; Make sure your actions are within the boundaries set by Allah SWT; Do not exploit those who may not have the means to pay back what they owe you; Remember that Allah SWT knows all and will reward you accordingly for your deeds both good and bad.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith was narrated by Jabir and it talks about the permissibility of selling animals, one for two, hand to hand. The Prophet Muhammad disliked selling them on credit. This hadith teaches us that we should not take advantage of people in need and should be honest in our dealings with others. We should also be mindful of our actions and make sure that they are within the boundaries set by Allah SWT. It also teaches us that we should not take advantage of people who are in a vulnerable position or those who may not have the means to pay back what they owe us. We must always remember that Allah SWT knows all and will reward us accordingly for our deeds both good and bad.
