Sahih al-Bukhari 3302 (Book 59, Hadith 110) #3157
True Faith in Yemen

SUMMARY: This hadith explains that the people of Yemen have true faith and readily embraced Islam, while those who are loud and at the base of camels have sternness and mercilessness which are qualities of Satan.

Narrated 'Uqba bin 'Umar and Abu Mas'ud: Allah's Messenger pointed with his hand towards Yemen and said, "(True) Belief is Yemenite, towards here (ie the Yemenite, had True Belief and embraced Islam readily). Certainly sternness and mercilessness are the qualities of those who are loud and at the base of the tails of camels, where the two horns of Satan will appear. Such qualities belong to the tribes of Rabi'a and Mudar".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the true faith found in the people from Yemen. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ pointed towards Yemen with his hand to explain that they readily accepted Islam when it was first introduced to them. He also warned against having qualities such as sternness or mercilessness, which he said were qualities belonging to tribes such as Rabi’a and Mudar. These qualities are associated with Satan, so it is important for us to stay away from them if we want to be good Muslims. We should strive for kindness, mercy, patience, humility, justice, honesty etc., instead of being loud or cruel like some people can be at times.
