Sahih al-Bukhari 3301 (Book 59, Hadith 109) #3156
Characteristics of People Based on Occupation

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the characteristics of people based on their occupation and how it affects their faith.

Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Messenger said, "The main source of disbelief is in the east. Pride and arrogance are characteristics of the owners of horses and camels, and those bedouins who are busy with their camels and pay no attention to Religion; while modesty and gentleness are the characteristics of the owners of sheep".

QUICK LESSONS:
Choose an occupation that will help you stay close to Allah rather than distract you from Him .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith talks about the characteristics of people based on their occupation. It states that those who own horses and camels tend to have pride and arrogance while those who own sheep are more modest and gentle. This is because those with horses and camels are busy with them and do not pay attention to religion while those with sheep are more likely to be religious. The main point here is that one's occupation can affect one's faith in Allah as well as one's character traits. Therefore, it is important for us to choose an occupation that will help us stay close to Allah rather than distract us from Him.
