Fulfilling Vows After Death

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) advised a woman to have her deceased mother's guardian fast on her behalf as she had made a vow to do so before passing away.

It was narrated from Jabir bin 'Abdullsh that : a woman came to the Messenger of Allah and said: "My mother has died, and she had made a vow to fast, but she died before she could fulfill it. The Messenger of Allah said: 'Let her guardian fast on her behalf ".
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، ‏.‏ أَنَّ امْرَأَةً، أَتَتْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ـ ـ فَقَالَتْ إِنَّ أُمِّي تُوُفِّيَتْ وَعَلَيْهَا نَذْرُ صِيَامٍ فَتُوُفِّيَتْ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَقْضِيَهُ ‏.‏ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ ـ ‏ "‏ لِيَصُمْ عَنْهَا الْوَلِيُّ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about fulfilling the vows made by someone who has passed away. It was narrated by Jabir bin 'Abdullsh that a woman came to the Prophet Muhammad and told him that her mother had died before she could fulfill her vow of fasting. The Prophet advised the woman to have her mother's guardian fast on her behalf instead, as this would be considered an act of charity for the deceased. This hadith teaches us that we should always strive to fulfill our promises, even if it is after death, as it will be rewarded in the afterlife.
