Fasting Shawwal Instead of Sacred Months

SUMMARY: The hadith is about Usamah bin Zaid fasting the sacred months and the Prophet Muhammad advising him to fast Shawwal instead.

It was narrated from Muhammad bin Ibrahim that Usamah bin Zaid used to fast the sacred months. The Messenger of Allah said to him: "Fast Shawwal". So he forsook the sacred months and he continued to fast Shawwal until he died.
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ الدَّرَاوَرْدِيُّ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أُسَامَةَ بْنِ الْهَادِ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، أَنَّ أُسَامَةَ بْنَ زَيْدٍ، كَانَ يَصُومُ أَشْهُرَ الْحُرُمِ ‏.‏ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ ـ ‏ "‏ صُمْ شَوَّالاً ‏"‏ ‏.‏ فَتَرَكَ أَشْهُرَ الْحُرُمِ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَزَلْ يَصُومُ شَوَّالاً حَتَّى مَاتَ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about Usamah bin Zaid, a companion of Prophet Muhammad, who used to fast during the sacred months. The Prophet advised him to fast in Shawwal instead. This hadith teaches us that we should always follow the advice of our elders and religious leaders as they are more knowledgeable than us and have our best interests at heart. It also teaches us that fasting is an important part of Islam and should be done regularly even outside of Ramadan. We can learn from this hadith that it is important to listen to those who are wiser than us, as they may have better advice for us than what we think ourselves. Additionally, it shows how much importance Islam places on fasting as a spiritual practice which helps bring one closer to Allah SWT.
