Fasting During Shaban

SUMMARY: It is not recommended to fast during the middle of Shaban until Ramadan arrives.

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah said: 'When it is the middle of Sha’ban, do not fast until Ramadan comes".
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، قَال: حَدَّثَنَا الْعَلاَءُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ ـ ‏ "‏ إِذَا كَانَ النِّصْفُ مِنْ شَعْبَانَ فَلاَ صَوْمَ حَتَّى يَجِيءَ رَمَضَانُ

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) advised his followers not to fast in the middle of Shaban until Ramadan arrives. This hadith teaches us that we should wait for the start of a blessed month like Ramadan before we begin fasting, as it will bring us more rewards from Allah.
