Fasting Before Ramadan

SUMMARY: It is not recommended to fast before Ramadan, except for those who have a habit of fasting.

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah said: 'Do not anticipate Ramadan by fasting one or two days before, except for a man who has a habitual pattern of fasting, in which case let him fast".

QUICK LESSONS:
Wait until Ramdan arrives to start fasting

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of not fasting before the month of Ramadan. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ advised against it, except for those who have a habit of fasting regularly. This hadith teaches us that we should be patient and wait until the month of Ramadan arrives to start our fasts. We should also be mindful that we do not over-exert ourselves in anticipation and instead take care to preserve our energy for when it is needed most during the holy month. Additionally, this hadith reminds us that we should always strive to maintain good habits and practices throughout the year so that they become second nature by the time Ramadan comes around again each year.
