The Importance of Voluntary Night Prayers

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) warned against becoming like someone who used to pray voluntary night prayers but then stopped.

It was narrated that 'Abdullah bin 'Amr said: "The Messenger of Allah said: 'Do not be like so-and-so, who used to pray voluntary night prayers then stopped praying voluntary night prayers".
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ، أَنْبَأَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ، عَنِ الأَوْزَاعِيِّ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ ـ ‏ "‏ لاَ تَكُنْ مِثْلَ فُلاَنٍ كَانَ يَقُومُ اللَّيْلَ فَتَرَكَ قِيَامَ اللَّيْلِ
