Delivering Sermons in the Time of the Prophet

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) used to deliver sermons while standing, but he would sit down briefly in between.

It was narrated that Simak bin Harb said: "I heard Jabir bin Samurah say: 'The Messenger of Allah used to deliver the sermon standing, but he used to sit down briefly, then stand up.’"

QUICK LESSONS:
Follow the example set by our beloved prophet , Take breaks from routines occasionally , Gain perspective on things .

EXPLANATIONS:
During the time of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, it was customary for him to deliver sermons while standing. However, he would take a brief break and sit down during his sermon. This is an example of how even though we may have certain customs or traditions that we follow, it is important to remember that there are times when taking a break or doing something different can be beneficial as well. It is also important to remember that following the example of our beloved prophet should always be our priority in life.

The hadith also teaches us about balance and moderation in all aspects of life; even if we have certain routines or habits that we follow regularly, it is important to take breaks from them every once in a while so as not to become too rigid or stuck in one way of thinking. Taking breaks can help us gain perspective on things and allow us to come back with fresh ideas and energy.
