Seeking Refuge in Allah from the Accursed Satan

SUMMARY: Seeking refuge in Allah from the accursed Satan and his madness, poetry, and pride.

It was narrated from Ibn Jubair bin Mut’im that his father said: "I saw the Messenger of Allah when he started the prayer. He said: 'Allahu Akbaru kabiran, Allahu Akbaru kabiran (Allah is the Most Great indeed),’ three times; 'Al-hamdu Lillahi kathiran, al-hamdu Lillahi kathiran (Much praise is to Allah),’ three times; 'Subhan Allahi bukratan wa asilan (Glory is to Allah morning and evening),’ three times; 'Allahumma inni a’udhu bika minash-Shaitanir-rajim, min Hamzihi wa nafkhihi wa nafthihi (O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the accursed Satan, from his madness, his poetry, and his pride)".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about seeking refuge in Allah from the accursed Satan and his madness, poetry, and pride. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us to recite certain phrases when we start our prayer. He said “Allahu Akbaru kabiran” which means “Allah is the Most Great indeed” three times; “Al-hamdu Lillahi kathiran” which means “Much praise is to Allah” three times; “Subhan Allahi bukratan wa asilan” which means “Glory is to Allah morning and evening” three times; then he said a phrase that translates to "O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the accursed Satan, from his madness, his poetry, and his pride." This hadith teaches us that we should always seek protection of God Almighty before starting any task or activity. We should also remember Him throughout our day by praising Him for His greatness. It also reminds us of how powerful Shaitan can be if we do not take precautions against him by seeking refuge with God Almighty. We must be aware of how he can influence us through our thoughts or actions so that we can protect ourselves against him at all times.
