The Importance of Justice

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) was reminded to be just in his distribution of the booty and he replied that he would be miserable if he did not act justly.

Narrated Jabir bin 'Abdullah: While Allah's Messenger was distributing the booty at Al-Ja'rana, somebody said to him "Be just (in your distribution)". The Prophet replied, "Verily I would be miserable if I did not act justly".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith highlights the importance of justice in all aspects of life. It is narrated by Jabir bin 'Abdullah, who was a companion of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. In this hadith, while the Prophet ﷺ was distributing the booty at Al-Ja'rana, someone reminded him to be just in his distribution and he replied that he would be miserable if he did not act justly. This shows us how important it is for us to always strive for justice and fairness in our dealings with others. We should never compromise on justice even when it comes to small matters as this will lead us away from righteousness and ultimately make us feel miserable.
