Jami at-Tirmidhi 3853 (Book 49, Hadith 253) #29515
Seeking Allah's Pleasure and Reward

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the companions of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) who emigrated with him in search of Allah's pleasure and reward. It also talks about Musab bin 'Umair, one of the companions, who died without leaving anything behind but a garment.

Narrated Khabbab: "We emigrated with the Messenger of Allah , seeking the Face of Allah. So our reward is with Allah. Among us were those who died and did not consume any of the rewards (in this life), and among us were those who lived to see its fruits and tend to them. Verily, Musab bin 'Umair died without leaving anything behind but a garment. When they covered his head with it, his feet would become exposed, and when they covered his feet with it, his head will become exposed. So the Messenger of Allah said: 'Cover his head and place Al-Idhkkir over his feet".

QUICK LESSONS:
Strive to seek Allah’s pleasure through our actions; Show compassion towards others even if they have nothing materialistic to offer us in return; Make sacrifices for seeking Allah’s pleasure if necessary

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the companions of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ who emigrated with him in search of Allah's pleasure and reward. They were willing to sacrifice their lives for this cause, as exemplified by Musab bin 'Umair, one of the companions, who died without leaving anything behind but a garment. The Prophet ﷺ showed compassion towards his companion by ordering them to cover his head with it and place something over his feet so that he would be properly covered. This hadith teaches us that we should strive to seek Allah’s pleasure through our actions and be willing to make sacrifices for it if necessary. We should also show compassion towards others even if they have nothing materialistic to offer us in return.
