Appointing a Leader

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said that if he had to appoint a leader without consulting anyone, he would have chosen Ibn Umm 'Abd.

Narrated 'Ali: that the Messenger of Allah said: "If I was going to appoint anyone as a leader without any consultation, I would appoint Ibn Umm 'Abd".
حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ وَكِيعٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ الثَّوْرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنِ الْحَارِثِ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ "‏ لَوْ كُنْتُ مُؤَمِّرًا أَحَدًا مِنْ غَيْرِ مَشُورَةٍ لأَمَّرْتُ ابْنَ أُمِّ عَبْدٍ
