Love for Ali in Islam

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said that no hypocrite loves Ali and no believer hates him.

Narrated Al-Musawir Al-Himyari: from his mother who said: "I entered upon Umm Salamah, and I heard her saying: "The Messenger of Allah used to say: "No hypocrite loves 'Ali, and no believer hates him".
حَدَّثَنَا وَاصِلُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الأَعْلَى، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ فُضَيْلٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ أَبِي النَّصْرِ، عَنِ الْمُسَاوِرِ الْحِمْيَرِيِّ، عَنْ أُمِّهِ، قَالَتْ دَخَلْتُ عَلَى أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ فَسَمِعْتُهَا تَقُولُ، كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ يَقُولُ ‏ "‏ لاَ يُحِبُّ عَلِيًّا مُنَافِقٌ وَلاَ يَبْغَضُهُ مُؤْمِنٌ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ ‏.‏ وَهَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ ‏.‏ وَعَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ هُوَ أَبُو نَصْرٍ الْوَرَّاقُ وَرَوَى عَنْهُ سُفْيَانُ الثَّوْرِيُّ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks of the importance of loving the companion of the Prophet Muhammad, Ali. It is narrated by Al-Musawir Al-Himyari from his mother who heard it directly from Umm Salamah. The Prophet Muhammad said that no hypocrite can love Ali and any believer who does not hate him. This hadith teaches us to have faith in Allah and His Messenger and to love those whom He loves such as His companions like Ali. It also teaches us to stay away from hypocrisy which is a major sin in Islam as it leads one away from true faith and belief in Allah. Furthermore, this hadith encourages believers to show their love for those whom Allah has chosen such as His companions like Ali by not hating them or speaking ill of them but rather showing respect towards them due to their status with Allah.
