Jami at-Tirmidhi 3512 (Book 48, Hadith 143) #29161
The Best Supplication

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ taught a man that the best supplication is to ask Allah for Al-'Afiyah and Al-Mu'afah in this world and in the Hereafter, and if one is given these two things, then they have succeeded.

Anas bin Malik narrated that a man came to the Prophet and said: "O Messenger of Allah, which supplication is the best?" He said: "Ask Your Lord For Al-'Afiyah and Al-Mu'afah in this world and in the Hereafter". Then he came to him on the second day and said: "O Messenger of Allah, which supplication is the best?" So he said to him similar to that. Then he came to him on the third day, so he said to him similar to that. He said: "So when you have been given Al-'Afiyah in this world, and you have been given it in the Hereafter, then you have succeeded".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us that the best supplication we can make to Allah is to ask for Al-'Afiyah and Al-Mu'afah in this world and in the Hereafter. Al-'Afiyah means safety from harm or danger while Al-Mu'afah means protection from evil or misfortune. If we are granted these two things by Allah then we will have succeeded. This hadith encourages us to make dua regularly as it is an important part of our faith as Muslims. We should also remember that success comes from Allah alone so it's important to always be grateful for His blessings.
