Jami at-Tirmidhi 3262 (Book 47, Hadith 314) #28911
Victory Through Patience

SUMMARY: The hadith is about Umar bin Al-Khattab's experience with the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) during a journey, where he pestered the Prophet three times and was not answered. Eventually, a Surah was revealed to the Prophet which was dearer to him than what the sun rises upon.

Narrated Malik bin Anas: from Zaid bin Aslam, from his father who said: "I heard 'Umar bin Al-Khattab may Allah be pleased with him saying: 'We were with the Messenger of Allah during one of his journeys when I said something to him but he was silent. Then I said something again but he was silent. I quickened my pace of mount to go to the other wise. I said: "May your mother lose you O Ibn Al-Khattab! You pestered the Messenger of Allah three times, each time he did not reply to you! You deserve that something be revealed about you in the Qur'an'." He ('Umar) said: "It was not long before I heard a voice calling me'. So I came to the Messenger of Allah and he said: "O Ibn Al-Khattab! A Surah was revealed to me last night which is dearer to me than what the sun rises upon: Verily, We have given you a manifest victory (48:1)'."

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about Umar bin Al-Khattab's experience with the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). During one of their journeys together, Umar pestered the Prophet three times but received no response. He became frustrated and said something that he regretted soon after. However, it wasn't long before he heard a voice calling him back to the Messenger of Allah who then revealed a Surah which was dearer to him than what the sun rises upon - Verily We have given you a manifest victory (48:1). This hadith teaches us that patience is key in difficult situations and that we should never give up hope even when things seem bleakest as Allah will always provide us with victory if we remain steadfast in our faith and trust in Him.
