Sahih al-Bukhari 2997 (Book 56, Hadith 206) #2866
The Prophet's Disciple

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) praised Az-Zubair for his willingness to volunteer and declared him as his disciple.

Narrated Jabir bin 'Abdullah: On the day of the battle of the Trench, the Prophet wanted somebody from amongst the people to volunteer to be a reconnoitre. Az-Zubair volunteered. He demanded the same again and Az-Zubair volunteered again. Then he repeated the same demand (thrice) and AzZubair volunteered once more. The Prophet then said, " Every prophet has a disciple and my disciple is Az-Zubair".

The Prophet asked three times if anyone would volunteer, and each time, Az-Zubair stepped forward without hesitation. In recognition of this act, the Prophet declared him as his disciple. This hadith teaches us that we should be willing to help others in need and be brave when faced with difficult tasks. It also shows us that our good deeds will not go unnoticed by Allah or His Messenger, and that we can gain recognition through our actions.
