Performing Salat Behind Maqam of Ibrahim

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the revelation of a verse in the Quran which allows Muslims to perform salat behind the Maqam of Ibrahim.

Narrated Anas: that 'Umar bin Al-Khattab said: "O Messenger of Allah ! I wish that we could perform Salat behind the Maqam: So the following was revealed: And take you the Maqam of Ibrahim as a place of Salat. (2:125)".
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا الْحَجَّاجُ بْنُ مِنْهَالٍ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، أَنَّ عُمَرَ، قَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ لَوْ صَلَّيْنَا خَلْفَ الْمَقَامِ فَنَزَلَتْ ‏:‏ ‏(‏وَاتَّخِذُوا مِنْ مَقَامِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ مُصَلًّى ‏)‏ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about a conversation between Prophet Muhammad and Umar bin Al-Khattab. Umar wished that they could perform salat behind the Maqam of Ibrahim, and this wish was granted when Allah revealed a verse in the Quran allowing them to do so. This hadith teaches us that if we have sincere wishes, Allah will grant them if it is beneficial for us. It also teaches us to be humble and ask for help from Allah instead of relying on our own strength or abilities.
