The Handshake of Companions

SUMMARY: Anas bin Malik confirms that the companions of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) used to shake hands with each other.

Narrated Qatadah: that he asked Anas bin Malik: "Did the Companions of the Messenger of Allah use to shake each other's hand?" He said, "Yes".
حَدَّثَنَا سُوَيْدٌ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، أَخْبَرَنَا هَمَّامٌ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، قَالَ قُلْتُ لأَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ هَلْ كَانَتِ الْمُصَافَحَةُ فِي أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ قَالَ نَعَمْ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ

This hadith is about the practice of shaking hands between companions of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him. It was narrated by Qatadah who asked Anas bin Malik if it was a common practice among the companions to shake hands with each other. Anas confirmed that it was indeed a common practice among them. This hadith teaches us that greeting one another warmly is an important part of Islamic culture and tradition, as it shows respect for one another and strengthens relationships between people in society. It also serves as an example for us to follow in our own lives, as we should strive to greet others warmly and respectfully whenever possible.
