Jami at-Tirmidhi 2591, 2795 (Book 39, Hadith 19) #28226
The Intensity of the Fire of Hell

SUMMARY: The Prophet (s.a.w) described the Fire of Hell as having been kindled for three thousand years, becoming increasingly more intense in color until it became dark black.

Abu Hurairah narrated that the Prophet (s.a.w) said: "The Fire was kindled for one thousand years until it reddened, then it was kindled for one thousand years until it whitened, then it was kindled for one thousand years until it became blackened, so it is dark black".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the intensity and severity of the fire in hell. According to this hadith, the fire was kindled for one thousand years until it reddened, then it was kindled for one thousand years until it whitened, then it was kindled for one thousand years until it became blackened and dark black. This means that over a period of three thousand years, the fire increased in intensity from red to white to black and eventually became so intense that its color changed from white to a dark black hue. This hadith serves as a reminder that those who disobey Allah will be punished severely in hellfire and should strive to do good deeds so they can be saved from such punishment on Judgment Day. It also teaches us that we should take our faith seriously and not take our time here on earth lightly because we will have to face Allah's judgment when we die.
