QUICK LESSONS:
Strive for humility & modesty; Live without attachment towards worldly possessions & desires; Remain content with what you have

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith narrated by Abu Umamah tells us about the modest lifestyle of the household of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. Despite being a leader and a role model for many people, his family did not have an abundance of barley bread which was considered to be a staple food in that time period. This teaches us that even though one may have power or influence in society, it is important to remain humble and not get carried away with material possessions or wealth as this can lead to arrogance and pride which are traits that should be avoided at all costs. Furthermore, this hadith also serves as an example for us to follow in our own lives; we should strive to live modestly without getting too attached to worldly possessions or desires as these will only bring temporary satisfaction but no lasting joy or contentment in life.
