Jami at-Tirmidhi 2195 (Book 33, Hadith 38) #27828
Warning of a Great Trial

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) warned that a great trial will come upon people, causing them to change their beliefs and values for worldly goods.

Abu Hurairah narrated that the Messenger of Allah(s.a.w) said: "Rush to do good deeds. A Fitnah will occur that is like a portion of the dark night, morning will come upon a man as a believer, who will be a disbeliever in the evening, and evening will come upon a believer, who will be a disbeliever in the morning. One of them will sell his religion for goods of the world".

QUICK LESSONS:
Rush to do good deeds; Stay strong in faith; Remain faithful; Obey Allah's commands no matter what happens around you .

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad warned his followers about an upcoming trial or fitnah that would be so difficult it would be like a portion of the dark night. He said that this fitnah would cause people to change their beliefs and values for worldly goods, meaning they would give up their religion in exchange for material possessions. This hadith is teaching us to stay strong in our faith and not let anything distract us from our religious obligations, even if it means giving up something we want or desire in the world. We should remember that nothing is more important than our relationship with Allah and staying true to His commands no matter what happens around us.
