Inheritance Rights According to Islam

SUMMARY: A man asked the Prophet (S.A.W) about what he would inherit from his deceased son, to which the Prophet (S.A.W) replied that he would receive a sixth of the inheritance and then later added another sixth, with the last sixth being consumable for him.

'Imran bin Husain narrated: "A man came to the Prophet (S.A.W) and said" 'My son died, so what do I inherit from him?' He said: 'For you is a sixth'. When he turned to leave,he called him and said: 'For you is another sixth'. So when he turned to leave , he called him saying: 'The last sixth is consumable for you'."

QUICK LESSONS:
Follow Islamic laws regarding inheritance rights .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about inheritance rights according to Islam and was narrated by Imran bin Husain who reported that a man came to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The man asked what he would inherit from his deceased son, and in response, the Prophet said that he would receive a sixth of his son's estate as an inheritance. The man was about to leave when the Prophet called him back and said that there was another sixth for him as well; however, this last sixth could be consumed by him if desired. This hadith teaches us that according to Islamic law, inheritors are entitled to two-sixths of their deceased relative's estate while they can consume or use up one-sixth if they wish so. It also shows us how generous and kindhearted our beloved prophet Muhammad was towards others as even though it wasn't necessary for him to do so, he still gave an extra portion of inheritance out of kindness towards this man who had lost his son.
