The Reward for Suppressing Anger

SUMMARY: Suppressing one's anger is a sign of strength and will be rewarded on the Day of Judgement.

Sahl bim Mu'adh bin Anas Al-Juhani narrated that the Messenger of Allah said: "Whoever suppresses his rage while he is able to unleash it, Allah will call him before the heads (leaders) of creation on the Day of Judgement, so that he can inform Him of which of the Hur he would like".

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks to the importance of controlling one's anger. It teaches us that even when we are angry and feel like lashing out at someone or something, it is better to take a step back and control our emotions. Doing so shows strength and courage in the face of adversity. On the Day of Judgement, Allah will reward those who have been able to suppress their rage with a special gift - they will be allowed to choose from among the Hur - heavenly maidens - as companions in Paradise. This hadith reminds us that it is always better to remain calm than give into our emotions and act rashly.
