Jami at-Tirmidhi 1579 (Book 21, Hadith 40) #27188
Honoring a Woman's Assurance of Protection

SUMMARY: A woman's assurance of protection should be honored by Muslims.

Narrated Abu Hurairah: That the Prophet said: "Indeed a woman grants (assurances of protection) to a people" - meaning it is to be honored - "from the Muslims". There is something on this topic from Umm Hani, and this Hadith is Hasan Gharib. I asked Muhammad and he said: "This Hadith is Sahih. Kathir bin Ziad heard from Al-Walid bin Rabah, and Al-Walid bin Rabah heard from Abu Hurairah, and he is Muqarib (average) in Hadith.

QUICK LESSONS:
Respect women's assurances; Take all people's words seriously; Build trust between each other within our communities; Honor women's words and promises; Create an environment where everyone feels safe and secure in their faith community

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of honoring a woman’s assurance of protection from the Muslim community. The Prophet Muhammad said that this assurance should be respected and taken seriously, as it is an important part of being a Muslim. Umm Hani also spoke on this topic, and the hadith was declared to be Sahih or authentic by Muhammad. Kathir bin Ziad heard from Al-Walid bin Rabah, who in turn heard it from Abu Hurairah, who was considered average in Hadith narrations. This means that while his narrations were not always reliable, they were still accepted as valid sources for Islamic teachings and values.

The main idea behind this hadith is that women should be respected and their assurances taken seriously within the Muslim community. It teaches us to honor women’s words and promises so that we can create an environment where everyone feels safe and secure in their faith community. Additionally, it encourages us to take all people’s words seriously regardless of gender or social status so that we can build trust between each other within our communities.
