Prostration of Gratitude in Islam

SUMMARY: Prostration of gratitude is an act of worship that can be done when one is happy.

Narrated Abu Bakrah: "The Prophet was met by some affair that made him happy, so he prostrated to Allah". Abu 'Eisa said: This Hadith is Hasan Gharib, we do not know of it except from this route, as a narration of Bakkar bin 'Abdul-'Aziz. This is acted upon according to most of the people of knowledge, they held the view that one could perform the prostration of gratitude. And Bakkar bin 'Adbul-'Aziz bin Abi Bakrah is Muqarib (average) in Hadith.

QUICK LESSONS:
Perform a prostration out appreciation for Allah's blessings and mercy
EXPLANATIONS:
According to the hadith, it is permissible to perform a prostration of gratitude when one experiences joy or happiness. This act of worship was narrated by Abu Bakrah and also by Bakkar bin 'Abdul-'Aziz, who was considered average in Hadith according to most people of knowledge. The prostration should be done out of appreciation for Allah's blessings and mercy, as a way to thank Him for His favors. It is important to remember that this type of prostration should not replace the obligatory prostrations during prayer or any other form of worship prescribed by Allah.
