The Futility of Vows

SUMMARY: Making vows does not prevent what is decreed by Allah, and it only causes the miser to spend his wealth.

Narrated Abu Hurairah: That the Messenger of Allah said: "Do not vow, for the vows does not prevent what is decreed at all, and it only causes the miser to spend (of his wealth)".

QUICK LESSONS:
Do not be too stingy with your wealth; Be mindful in your spending habits .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the futility of making vows. It was narrated by Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah said that making a vow does not prevent what is decreed by Allah and it only causes a miser to spend his wealth. This means that no matter how much we try to change our fate through our own actions or words, nothing can change what has already been predetermined for us by Allah. Furthermore, this hadith also teaches us about being mindful with our spending habits and not being too stingy with our wealth as it can lead us to become misers.
