Avoiding Distractions During Prayer

SUMMARY: The hadith is about not looking around during prayer as it can be a distraction from the prayer.

Aishah narrated: "I asked the Messenger of Allah about looking around during the Salat. He said: 'It is a portion which the Shaitan snatches during a man's prayer'."
حَدَّثَنَا صَالِحُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الأَحْوَصِ، عَنْ أَشْعَثَ بْنِ أَبِي الشَّعْثَاءِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ عَنْ الاِلْتِفَاتِ فِي الصَّلاَةِ قَالَ ‏ "‏ هُوَ اخْتِلاَسٌ يَخْتَلِسُهُ الشَّيْطَانُ مِنْ صَلاَةِ الرَّجُلِ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ

This means that when we are praying, we should focus on our prayers and not look around or get distracted by anything else in order to make sure that our prayers are accepted and fulfilled by Allah. We should also remember to stay away from any kind of negative thoughts or feelings while praying so that we can remain focused on our prayers and have them accepted by Allah.
