Eating with a Menstruating Woman

SUMMARY: It is permissible to eat with a menstruating woman.

Abdullah bin Sa'd narrated: I asked the Prophet about eating with a menstruating woman. He said: "Eat with her".
حَدَّثَنَا عَبَّاسٌ الْعَنْبَرِيُّ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الأَعْلَى، قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ، حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، عَنِ الْعَلاَءِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ، عَنْ حَرَامِ بْنِ مُعَاوِيَةَ، عَنْ عَمِّهِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ، قَالَ سَأَلْتُ النَّبِيَّ عَنْ مُوَاكَلَةِ الْحَائِضِ فَقَالَ ‏ "‏ وَاكِلْهَا ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قَالَ وَفِي الْبَابِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ وَأَنَسٍ ‏.‏ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى حَدِيثُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ ‏.‏ وَهُوَ قَوْلُ عَامَّةِ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ لَمْ يَرَوْا بِمُوَاكَلَةِ الْحَائِضِ بَأْسًا ‏.‏ وَاخْتَلَفُوا فِي فَضْلِ وَضُوئِهَا فَرَخَّصَ فِي ذَلِكَ بَعْضُهُمْ وَكَرِهَ بَعْضُهُمْ فَضْلَ طَهُورِهَا

This hadith from the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ teaches us that it is permissible to eat with a menstruating woman. The narrator of this hadith is Abdullah bin Sa'd who asked the Prophet about eating with a menstruating woman and the Prophet said that it was permissible. This hadith shows us that we should not be ashamed or embarrassed of our natural bodily functions and processes such as menstruation. We should also not feel uncomfortable around people who are going through these processes and instead treat them like any other person in our lives.
