Respect and Honor in Addressing People

SUMMARY: This hadith is about the importance of addressing people with respect and honor.

The tradition mentioned above has also been transmitted by Abu Hurairah through a different chain of narrators. This version does not mention the Prophet (May peace be upon him) i.e, it does not go back to him. It has : He must say: "My master" (Sayyid) and "My patron" (mawlaya).
حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ السَّرْحِ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ، أَنَّ أَبَا يُونُسَ، حَدَّثَهُ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، فِي هَذَا الْخَبَرِ وَلَمْ يَذْكُرِ النَّبِيَّ قَالَ ‏ "‏ وَلْيَقُلْ سَيِّدِي وَمَوْلاَىَ

This hadith emphasizes the importance of showing respect and honor when addressing people. It is narrated by Abu Hurairah that one should address their master as “My master” or “Sayyid”, and their patron as “My patron” or “Mawlaya”. Showing respect to others is a sign of good character, which is highly valued in Islam. It teaches us to be humble, polite, and kind when speaking to others regardless of their social status or position.
