Sunan Abi Dawud 4897 (Book 43, Hadith 125) #25188
Speaking Ill of Companions is Forbidden

SUMMARY: A man was insulting Abu Bakr, and the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) warned him against speaking ill of his companions.

The tradition mentioned above has also been transmitted by Abu Hurairah through a different chain of narrators. This version has: A man was reviling Abu Bakr. He then mentioned the rest of the tradition in a similar manner. Abu Dawud said: Similarly, it has been transmitted by Safwan b. 'Isa, from Ibn 'Affan, as Sufyan said.

QUICK LESSONS:
Show respect for your friends and family members; be grateful for those who have helped you; be kind to everyone around you; do not speak ill about anyone; follow the teachings of Allah SWT .

EXPLANATIONS:
The hadith speaks about the importance of respecting one's companions. It is narrated that a man was reviling Abu Bakr, one of the Prophet Muhammad's closest companions. The Prophet Muhammad then warned him against speaking ill of his companions and reminded him to respect them as they were important to him and had helped spread Islam throughout Arabia. This hadith teaches us that we should always show respect for our friends and family members as well as those who have helped us in any way or have been important in our lives. We should never speak ill of them or insult them in any way because it is disrespectful and ungrateful behavior which will not be tolerated by Allah SWT.
