Respect for the Word of Allah

SUMMARY: Laughing at the word of Allah is not acceptable.

'Amir b. Shahr said : I was with the Negus when his son recited a verse of the Gospel. So I laughed. Thereupon he said : Do you laugh at the word of Allah, the Exalted?

QUICK LESSONS:
Respect what comes from God’s words

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about respecting the word of God and not laughing at it. It was narrated by 'Amir b. Shahr who was with the Negus when his son recited a verse from the Gospel and he laughed, to which Negus replied that one should not laugh at the word of Allah, The Exalted. This hadith teaches us that we should respect and take seriously what God has said in His scriptures, as it is sacred and holy to Him. We must never make fun or mock what He has said as this would be disrespectful towards Him and His words. We must also remember that even if something may seem funny or amusing to us, it does not mean that we should laugh at it if it comes from God's words as this would be considered a sin in His eyes.
