Sunan Abi Dawud 4495 (Book 41, Hadith 2) #24786
Resemblance Between Father and Son

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ smiled at the resemblance between a father and his son, and then recited a verse from the Quran about how no one can bear the burden of another.

Narrated AbuRimthah: I went to the Prophet with my father. The Messenger of Allah then asked my father: Is this your son? He replied: Yes, by the Lord of the Ka'bah. He again said: Is it true? He said: I bear witness to it. The Messenger of Allah then smiled for my resemblance with my father, and for the fact that my father took an oath upon me. He then said: He will not bring evil on you, nor will you bring evil on him. The Messenger of Allah recited the verse: "No bearer of burdens can bear the burden of another".

QUICK LESSONS:
Be kind to your parents, Take responsibility for your own actions
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the relationship between fathers and sons. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ smiled when he saw that AbuRimthah resembled his father, which shows us that it is important to have a strong bond with our parents. He also recited a verse from the Quran which states that no one can bear another's burden. This teaches us to be responsible for our own actions, as we cannot rely on anyone else to take responsibility for us. We should also be kind to our parents, as they are an important part of our lives.
