QUICK LESSONS:
Follow Islamic Laws & Punishments

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith discusses the punishment for drinking wine in Islam, which is forty lashes according to Prophet Muhammad and Abu Bakr, but Umar increased it to eighty lashes. The maxim “He who enjoys its cold should bear its heat” means that if someone enjoys something easy, they must be willing to take responsibility for any hard parts of it as well. Hudain b. al-Mundhir Abu Sasan was a leader of his tribe, showing that even leaders are not exempt from following Islamic laws and punishments.
