Equality in Gifts

SUMMARY: A father gave one of his sons a slave, but the Prophet (ﷺ) advised him to take back the gift and give all his sons an equal amount.

Narrated An-Nu'man bin Bashir: that his father took him to Allah's Messenger and said, "I have given this son of mine a slave". The Prophet asked, "Have you given all your sons the like?" He replied in the negative. The Prophet said, "Take back your gift then".

QUICK LESSONS:
Be fair when it comes to giving gifts or rewards; treat everyone equally regardless of their age or gender; do not show favoritism towards any particular person or group .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about equality and fairness when it comes to giving gifts. It was narrated by An-Nu'man bin Bashir that his father took him to Allah's Messenger ﷺ and said he had given this son of his a slave. The Prophet asked if he had given all of his sons the same gift, which he replied in the negative. The Prophet then advised him to take back the gift and give all of his sons an equal amount instead. This teaches us that we should be fair when it comes to giving gifts or rewards, as everyone should be treated equally regardless of their age or gender. We should not show favoritism towards any particular person or group as this can lead to feelings of resentment among those who are not favored in such situations.
