Mercy for the Treacherous

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught that cutting of the hand should not be inflicted on someone who is treacherous.

Narrated Jabir ibn Abdullah: He also said through this chain: The Messenger of Allah said: Cutting of the hand is not to be inflicted on one who is treacherous.
وَبِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ‏ "‏ لَيْسَ عَلَى الْخَائِنِ قَطْعٌ
