Sahih al-Bukhari 2579 (Book 51, Hadith 14) #2468
The Importance of Charity

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) taught that charity should be given to those in need and not kept for oneself.

Narrated Um 'Atiyya: Once the Prophet went to 'Aisha and asked her whether she had something (to eat). She said that she had nothing except the mutton which Um 'Atiyya had sent to (Barirah) in charity. The Prophet said that it had reached its destination (ie it is no longer an object of charity)

QUICK LESSONS:
Give generously to those in need; Be kind and compassionate; Share your wealth with others; Help out whenever you can; Show gratitude for what you have been given.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of charity and giving to those in need. It was narrated by Um 'Atiyya, who said that once the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ asked her if she had anything to eat, and she replied that she only had some mutton which was sent as a charity by Um 'Atiyya. The Prophet ﷺ then said that it had reached its destination, meaning it was no longer an object of charity but rather something meant for those in need. This teaches us the importance of giving to others who are less fortunate than us, as well as being generous with our wealth and resources. We should always remember that whatever we give away will come back to us in one way or another, whether through reward from Allah or through other people's kindness towards us.
