Eating Horse Meat on Khaibar Day

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad forbade the consumption of donkey meat on the day of Khaibar, but allowed horse meat.

Jabir b. 'Abd Allah said: The Messenger of Allah forbade the flesh of domestic asses on the day of Khaibar, but permitted horse flesh.
حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ نَهَانَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ يَوْمَ خَيْبَرَ عَنْ لُحُومِ الْحُمُرِ وَأَذِنَ لَنَا فِي لُحُومِ الْخَيْلِ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about a prohibition that was made by Prophet Muhammad during the Battle of Khaibar. He forbade his followers from eating donkey meat, but allowed them to eat horse meat instead.
