SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) ate some dried dates with his companions without washing his hands.

Narrated Jabir ibn Abdullah: The Messenger of Allah came out from the valley of a mountain where he had eased himself. There were some dried dates on a shield before us. We called him and he ate with us. He did not touch water.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad's companions, Jabir ibn Abdullah, and their experience with the Prophet. They were in a valley of a mountain when they saw some dried dates on a shield. They called out to the Prophet and he came and ate with them without washing his hands first. This hadith teaches us that it is permissible to eat food without washing our hands beforehand as long as we are sure that our hands are clean from any dirt or impurities. It also teaches us that we should be mindful of what we eat and how much of it we consume, even if it is something small like dried dates. We should also be respectful towards others by not eating too much or taking more than our share when sharing food with others.
