The Reward of Knowledge

SUMMARY: Acquiring knowledge for worldly gain will not lead to the reward of Paradise.

Narrated Abu Hurayrah: The Prophet said: If anyone acquires knowledge that should be sought seeking the Face of Allah, but he acquires it only to get some worldly advantage, he will not experience the arf, ie the fragrance, of Paradise.

QUICK LESSONS:
Seek Knowledge With Purity Of Intention And Humility For The Sake Of Allah's Pleasure

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of acquiring knowledge for the sake of Allah and not for any worldly gain. It teaches us that if we seek knowledge only to get some material benefit, then we will not experience the fragrance or reward of paradise. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was emphasizing that our intentions should be pure when seeking knowledge and that it should be done solely for Allah's pleasure. He was also teaching us that if we do something with a good intention, then Allah will reward us in this life and in the hereafter. We should strive to acquire knowledge with sincerity and humility so that we can reap its rewards both in this world and in the next.
