Fulfill your obligations on time and do not delay payments when you have the means.

This hadith explains that if someone has the means to pay but delays it, they may be dishonoured or punished. Ibn al-Mubarak further explains that dishonouring someone in this context means speaking to them roughly and punishing them could mean imprisoning them. This hadith teaches us that we should always strive to fulfil our obligations on time and not delay payments when we have the means to do so. It also teaches us about justice, as those who are able to pay should not be allowed to get away with delaying payments without consequence.
