Sunan Abi Dawud 3583 (Book 25, Hadith 13) #23873
Taking What Is Not Rightfully Yours

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) warned against taking what is not rightfully yours, as it will lead to a portion of Hell.

Umm Salamah reported the Messenger of Allah as saying: "I am only a human being, and you bring your disputes to me, some perhaps being more eloquent in their plea than others, so that I give judgement on their behalf according to what I hear from them. Therefore, whatever I decide for anyone which by right belongs to his brother, he must not take anything, for I am granting him only a portion of Hell.

This hadith teaches us that we should be honest and fair in our dealings with others and never take something that does not belong to us. We must also respect the decisions made by those in authority and accept them even if we do not agree with them.
